Privacy Policy
Last updated: 6 August 2026
The Bikers Bible ("we", "us") is the directory of biker-friendly cafes, pubs and stops in the UK, available as a mobile app and at bikersbible.app. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your rights under UK GDPR. ⚠ ASSUMPTION: data controller legal entity name and registered address to be inserted before launch
If you use the rider app
The app is designed to work without an account — browsing, favourites, ride planning and suggestions never require one. When you use the app:
- Your location stays on your device."Near me" searches send only the coordinates of the search itself to our server to return nearby stops; we do not store a history of your location, track your movements, or build location profiles.
- Anonymous analytics.We collect anonymous, aggregated usage data (screens viewed, searches run, app version, device type) to understand what's useful. This is not linked to your identity and contains no advertising identifiers.
- Suggestions you submit.If you suggest a cafe, we store what you type (and a photo if you attach one). You can include contact details or not — that's up to you.
Optional rider accounts (friends & shared rides)
Signing in is optional and only unlocks the social side of the app: adding friends and sharing rides with them. If you create an account we store:
- Your email address — used only for passwordless sign-in links and codes. It is never shown to other riders and never used for marketing;
- The handle and display name you choose, and your friend connections — this is how your mates find you;
- Rides you choose to share (their titles and the stops you added). Rides you don't share stay on your device.
You can delete your account and everything above at any time from inside the app — see bikersbible.app/delete-account. Deletion is immediate and permanent.
If you own a listed cafe, pub or stop
We collect and store:
- Your email address (used for passwordless sign-in links);
- Contact and business details you enter (name, business name, phone);
- Your listing content — address, opening hours, photos, facilities, description;
- Subscription status from our payment provider, Stripe. We never see or store your card details — payment is handled entirely by Stripe (see their privacy policy). We store your Stripe customer and subscription references, plan and renewal date.
- A history of changes to published listings (who changed what, when), kept for moderation and audit.
Website visitors
The website uses cookies only for signing in (session cookies). No advertising cookies, no cross-site tracking. Our hosting infrastructure keeps standard short-lived server logs (IP address, request path) for security and debugging.
Legal bases (UK GDPR)
- Contract— processing cafe owner accounts, listings and subscriptions is necessary to provide the service you've bought;
- Legitimate interests — moderation, fraud prevention, security logging, and anonymous product analytics;
- Legal obligation — retaining billing records for tax purposes.
Who we share data with
Stripe (payments), Supabase (database and authentication hosting), and Postcodes.io (postcode lookups — the postcode being geocoded only, never who entered it). We don't sell data to anyone. Published listing content (including photos and business contact details you choose to list) is public by design — that's the product.
Retention
- Owner accounts and listing data: kept while your listing is active. ⚠ ASSUMPTION: deleted or anonymised within 90 days of account closure
- Billing records: kept 6 years after the tax year they relate to (UK requirement).
- Anonymous analytics: aggregated, kept indefinitely.
- Rider accounts: deleted immediately when you delete your account in the app (profile, friend connections and shared rides are removed with it).
- Rider suggestions: kept until reviewed, then the submission record is retained with its outcome.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, object to processing, or withdraw consent where consent is the basis. Email privacy@bikersbible.app ⚠ ASSUMPTION: mailbox to be createdand we'll respond within one month. If you're unhappy with how we handle it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
